Briar (Erica arborea) - a species of heath family plant, naturally occurring in the thickets
of the maquis surrounding the Mediterranean, from Portugal, through France, Italy, Turkey,
the Arab countries, to Algeria and Morocco. The briar bulb, during long-term growth,
absorbs large amounts of silica, which makes it almost the perfect material for pipe-makers
and pipe-smokers. The briar we currently obtain comes from Italy, the Liguria region,
straight from the Briar Cutter Romeo Domenico / Mimmo.
