Description

Unique Meerschaum Pipe – Handcrafted in Turkey

A truly special tobacco pipe, entirely handmade from high-quality meerschaum by experienced Turkish artisans. This classic panel poker model stands out with its richly carved design, decorative shank finish, sterling silver band, and stylish acrylic stem available in two color variations.

Thanks to its standard dimensions and lightweight construction, the pipe is both practical and comfortable for everyday use.

Each pipe comes with a perfectly fitted case lined with soft fabric, providing safe storage and convenient transport. Every piece is 100% handcrafted, making it truly one of a kind.

Care and Usage

To ensure the pipe lasts for years and retains its excellent smoking properties, regular cleaning is essential to prevent cake buildup. We recommend smoking slowly and evenly—ideally no more than once a day. While meerschaum pipes are resistant to burnout, they should not be overheated. Proper maintenance guarantees a rich, flavorful smoking experience for many years.

Available Variants

This pipe is available in two slightly different versions:

  • Model 1 – slightly smaller, with a darker stem

  • Model 2 – larger, with a lighter stem

Both feature an Army Mount stem, designed to be push-fit (without a tenon). They fit only in one position and require a firm, twisting motion to attach.

Dimensions:

  • Total length: 15.0 cm

  • Bowl height: 5.5 cm

  • Chamber diameter: 1.8 cm

  • Chamber depth: 3.6 cm

The Art of Meerschaum Pipe Making

Meerschaum pipes are renowned for their unique craftsmanship and excellent smoking qualities. The creation of a meerschaum pipe involves several carefully executed stages—from raw material extraction to final polishing. Here is a detailed look at the process:

1. Meerschaum Extraction
Meerschaum, a soft and porous mineral, is primarily mined in Turkey. It is extracted from deep underground and carefully transported to workshops for processing.

2. Selection and Drying
After extraction, meerschaum blocks are sorted by quality and size, then left to dry naturally.

3. Shaping and Carving
Skilled craftsmen hand-carve each pipe using chisels and knives. This step requires precision, as meerschaum allows for intricate patterns and ornamental detailing. The bowl, shank, and stem mount are shaped according to the intended design.

4. Drilling and Fitting
Once carved, the smoke channel is drilled to ensure smooth airflow. A connector is fitted into the shank and adjusted to match the stem, which may be made of acrylic, amber, or other materials.

5. Sanding and Smoothing
The carved pipe is carefully sanded to create a smooth surface. Various grades of sandpaper are used to remove imperfections and achieve a polished look.

6. Waxing and Polishing
To enhance durability and appearance, the pipe is coated in natural beeswax. This process gives it a glossy finish and allows a beautiful patina to develop with use.

7. Final Inspection and Assembly
Each pipe undergoes strict quality control to ensure it meets high standards. Once approved, the stem is attached, and the pipe is ready for sale or personal use.

Meerschaum pipes are cherished for their light weight, cool smoke, and the rich patina they acquire over time. The high level of craftsmanship involved makes each one a functional and artistic treasure.
